What are the eligibility criteria for CDCP?
To qualify for the CDCP, you must :
- 1- Not have access to dental insurance*;
- 2- Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000$;
- 3- Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes;
- 4- Have filed your tax return in the previous year.
You need to meet all the eligibility criteria to qualify for the CDCP.
*What does not having access to dental insurance mean?
Not having access to dental insurance means that you do not have access to any type of dental insurance or coverage, including through your employer's or a family member's employer's benefits, health and wellness accounts, by a professional or student organization.
If you have access to dental coverage through a government social program offered by a province, territory or federally, you may also be eligible for CDCP. If you meet all eligibility criteria, coverage will be coordinated across programs to avoid duplication or gaps in coverage.
How to apply?
To meet anticipated demand and ensure a smooth integration experience, CDCP is being implemented gradually over several months, starting with older adults.

When can I consult you for dentures under the CDCP?
Canadians registered with the CDCP will be able to start seeing an oral health care provider as early as May 2024, starting with seniors.
Individual coverage will take effect on the start date indicated in the Sun Life welcome kit. Appointments with an oral care provider must be made on or after this date, and not before, for oral care services to be covered by the plan. The CDCP will not reimburse you for oral care services received before the effective date.
