Acrylic partial denture

What is an acrylic partial denture?

This is a type of denture you can remove for cleaning and put back by yourself. It replaces the missing natural teeth on the top or lower arch.

A removable partial denture is completely made of acrylic resin (pink plastic) serving to support the artificial teeth. The need for metal hooks that fits on your natural teeth may be necessary so that the denture can remain in place.

An acrylic partial denture only sits on the gums but not on natural teeth. Sometimes the pressure created by the acrylic partial on the gums cause the risk of gingival inflammation around natural teeth, the patient must be careful not to eat hard food with this type of denture. The acrylic partial is also more fragile than the metal partial denture.

Characteristics of an acrylic partial denture

  • Excellent to match the gums color and shape.
  • Faster to make than a metallic partial denture (1 week faster).
  • Easy tooth addition to the denture if you loose a natural tooth.

Benefits of an acrylic partial denture

  • You will have a natural and harmonious smile.
  • Having replaced all the missing teeth, you will be able to chew better.
